Vi-Va La Italia is more than a restaurant – it's a feeling. A piece of Italy, right in the heart of the Yumbo Center, that you can taste, experience and enjoy.
Our guests fondly call us a “jewel” in the Yumbo – a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle and feel real Italian joie de vivre.
We believe in the power of fresh ingredients, in honest cooking, and in the idea that true quality knows no compromise. That's why we carefully select every product and bring only the best to the plate – authentic, high-quality and prepared with genuine passion.
But for us, enjoyment doesn't end with the food. A visit to Vi-Va La Italia should feel easy, warm and special. Cleanliness and hygiene are a given for us – because true comfort begins in the details.
Another important part of our philosophy is the way we welcome our guests: with a smile, genuine friendliness and service that is attentive yet discreet – personal, warm and always aimed at making every moment special.
Our chef comes from Naples in southern Italy and brings the authentic culinary tradition of his homeland to our kitchen. Our kitchen assistant comes from northern Italy and completes our team with great care, dedication and an eye for detail.
Vi-Va La Italia stands for joie de vivre, indulgence and the feeling of being exactly where you belong.

About Us
Michael & Louis – our story
We, Michael from Germany and Louis from Luxembourg, made a shared dream come true: to live and work where others spend their holidays – on Gran Canaria.
Perhaps a little spontaneously, many friends and acquaintances first thought we were crazy. But as everyone knows, Michael leaves nothing to chance. Even though only about two months passed between our first viewings and the final decision, we used that time intensively to thoroughly explore self-employment on Gran Canaria and carefully prepare our next step.
Originally, the idea was to open a tapas bar in the Anexo in Playa del Inglés. But sometimes life writes its own stories – and things turned out differently in the end. Through a local estate agent, we became aware of this special restaurant: Vi-Va La Italia.
After the first conversations with the previous owners, Miranda and Dave, and several visits as guests, the decision was quickly made. Within just two weeks, it was clear to us: this was our new path.
In November 2025, we took over Vi-Va La Italia. Since then, we have been working with great passion, respect for its history and a real love of detail to keep the restaurant at its high standard – and to develop it further, step by step.
Our philosophy is clear: honest Italian cooking, high-quality ingredients, authentic flavour, and a place where every guest feels welcome. For us, a restaurant isn't just a business, but a meeting place – a piece of home, whether you live here or are just visiting.
At the end of December 2025, we finally arrived on the island by car and ferry – a five-day journey that was already a small adventure for us and one we'll remember for a long time. The start wasn't always easy, and every day brought new challenges and surprises. But these very experiences strengthened us as a team and showed us that we're on the right path.
Today, more than ever, we're convinced: taking over this special jewel in the Yumbo was the best decision we ever made. With heart, dedication and a lot of passion, we work every day to give our guests beautiful moments, good food and a taste of Italian joie de vivre.
